Best of British Designers

For avid fashionistas, September is a hot month for fashion. Top designers will be showcasing their Spring/Summer collections across fashion weeks which are taking place in New York, London, Milan and Paris.

At the end of this week, it’s London’s turn. To mark the occasion, we’re celebrating the ‘best of British’ designer frames that we stock here at Richard Petrie. Designer frames have been prominently shown across lots of different catwalk shows this year, and we predict that this will continue throughout London Fashion Week (LFW)!

LFW is by far one of the biggest dates in the calendar for fashion-goers, it’s a week-long fashion extravaganza that will feature around 90 different fashion shows by both British and international designers presenting their Spring/Summer 2018 collections. It will give us a glimpse of what to expect for next year’s top trends.

What to expect from LFW?

London Fashion Week gives us a great opportunity to celebrate our home-grown British designers. Burberry, Christopher Kane, Erdem and Topshop are some of the names that will be showcasing across the week. The event also attracts lots of international fashion giants too, including Tommy Hilfiger and Giorgio Armani who will be presenting their latest collections for the first time in the city.

We predict that there’ll be lots of retro looks combined with modern twists across the catwalks! Fashion trends often run in cycles and right now, 1970s and 1980s fashion is having a huge revival. These trends often reflect across eyewear and sunglasses trends too. We think there will be lots of classic colours paired with retro frame styles.

At our practice, we have found that we tend to choose designer frames based on how they look and how they make us feel, that’s why we often pick more classic designs that not only make us feel great, but can also wear with lots of different outfits too. With this in mind, we stock some great British designer frames as we know they combine great trend-led styles, with the highest quality and fit possible, so you get a great pair of specs!

We have three British brands that we love: Joules, Ted Baker and Hook LDN. As Joanna – our super spectacle stylist – reported in her Summer Styling blog, these designers were really popular throughout the Summer and it looks like they’ll remain on form throughout the rest of the year and into next.

Let’s take a look at what our three favourite designers at Richard Petrie have to offer for British fashion

Joules

We love the glasses frames from this quintessential British lifestyle brand! Joules is best known for its unique prints, vibrant colours and great quality. We were lucky enough to stock Joule’s first designer frames collection in spring, they were really popular amongst many of our patients and we’re looking forward to having them next season too.

Similar to their spring collection, you can expect signature Joules prints and pops of autumnal colours this season in both plastic and metal frames.

Ted Baker

A brand that prefers to be known as ‘no ordinary designer label’, Ted Baker combines classic styles with quirky designs.

Ted Baker spectacles and sunglasses are a firm favourite amongst many of our patients, they have great style and are very lightweight, making them so comfortable to wear.

We love Ted Baker as they often follow the best trends in eyewear each season. Expect to find tortoiseshell and muted tones as well as their trademark floral patterns throughout the season. As seen throughout the summer, they brought round frame styles ‘à la John Lennon’ to the practice, and we predict they’ll have a firm place in Autumn/Winter too!

Hook LDN

Our final British designer at our practice is Hook LDN – an eyewear brand that prides itself on creating style-led designs that are high quality. As our most fashion-forward brand, they often look to influences from music and fashion when designing their collections.

You can be sure to find the latest trends in their collections, think contrasting metals and patterned acetates in retro styles and colours.

If you’d like to find out more information about the designer frames we stock, or would like some help picking out the best style for you, come to our practice and see Joanna.
