Top Trends for Autumn/Winter 2018

Although we have had an absolutely glorious Summer, which definitely makes a change for the UK, it appears that Autumn is now upon us bringing with it a change in fashion and styles to get us through chillier months.

Wandering round the shops there is an abundance of autumnal colours, mustards seem to be a favourite again, along with rust and burgundy being quite popular.  Animal print is HUGE this season, you can’t walk into a store or shop online without there being a range of animal print clothing available, and in a range of different colours too! The 90’s are back in fashion once again, channelling the ‘Clueless’ vibe with checks, plaid and pleated skirts being incredibly popular this season.

The  #MeToo campaign has sparked off a huge trend within fashion as the demand for black dresses soared at the start of the year. Making a stand against gender discrimination, Hollywood stars, influencers and activists around the globe have taken to using black clothing as a way to raise awareness of social and political issues that surround people’s everyday lives.

This season fashion trends are bold, daring and make quite statement, which is replicated within this seasons eyewear trends.

Make  A Statement

Grabbing attention is hot this season and what better way to do it than with a statement pair of specs. Ladies can choose from bold shapes, distinctive patterns and a range of colours to make their statement, and men have the options of black, heavy rimmed, plastic frames.

Hook LDN is a brand that knows all to well how to make a statement. Their frames are heavily influenced by the music and art industry, and this is reflected in the design and names of each of their frames. They are a really popular British brand and we can’t wait to see more of their frames in our practice.

It’s All About Retro

Jumping back to the 80’s and 90’s is not only popular in clothing but also eyewear with round eye, aviator and cat eye frames all over the shelves at the moment. Many of the top eyewear brands such as Chloe, Ted Baker, DVF and Hook LDN have embraced this trend and produced lots of retro style eyewear to fit into this Autumn/Winter trend.

Chloe is a brand that fully embraces fashion trends all year round, and when it comes to the retro style they have more than pulled it off. The big styles, round frames, and aviators are a trend that has been really popular this year and the Chloe frames are some of the best sellers.

Attention To Detail

Many of the frames this season have little bits of detail on them that set them apart from your generic, run-of-the-mill frames. Whether it is patterns on the sides, double bridges or bow details, there are lots of little elements that can make your glasses feel extra special and unique.

Ted Baker is a perfect advocate for adding extra little details to their frames, whether it is their signature bow, a pattern on the inside of the frame or their most recent pearl detailing to celebrate their Pearl anniversary. You will not be disappointed by the detail a Ted Baker frame has to offer.

If you’re wanting to update your glasses wardrobe to something new this season, we have plenty to choose from and almost certainly something to suit your style.
