Advanced Eyecare with a Personal Touch

For over 40 years, Richard Petrie Optometrists has delivered exceptional, personalised eyecare. Our commitment to your eye health and vision remains as strong as ever, supported by cutting-edge technology, usually years ahead of the high street.

To continue delivering the high level of care our patients expect, we’ve expanded our investment in advanced diagnostic equipment. This ensures we provide comprehensive, accurate eye examinations tailored to your individual needs.

From October 1st, 2021, we’ve transitioned to our private care model, with most patients joining our RP4 membership plan. This allows us to maintain the quality and depth of care we believe in, without compromise.

At Richard Petrie Optometrists, we evolve with the latest advancements so your eyecare stays optimised.

FAQs

What does it mean if you are a private practice?

Personalised Expertise in Private Eyecare

As a fully private practice, we can now offer dedicated, in-depth eyecare with the time and attention you deserve. Our 60-minute appointments include advanced diagnostic technology and extended consultation time with your Optometrist, ensuring a truly tailored experience.

This approach allows us to specialise further, offering expert services such as dry eye treatment, myopia management, hearing care, colour vision solutions, and personalised eyewear styling, all under one roof. We are ever evolving our services to add value to memberships when we can.

What does joining look like?

A monthly Direct Debit plan which gives you RP4 membership.

Membership benefits include

  • 50% off your first eye examination when you join a monthly plan
  • Annual examinations (more frequent if clinically indicated)
  • Emergency appointments
  • 3D OCT retinal scanning with interpretation from experienced Optometrists
  • Optomap ultra-wide field retinal imaging: This is a safe and advanced way to see vast amounts of the retina…impossible without this technology
  • Spectacle discounts
  • Eyedrops and accessories discounts
  • Children’s eyecare included with 1 adult (child joins their own plan if they wear glasses)
  • Access to advanced top quality partners for Audiology with discounts for RP4 members
  • Personal Eyewear Styling service
  • colour vision screening
  • Dry Eye specialist services and treatments in practice (additional charges apply)

How can I join?

Simply bring along your account number and sortcode and we will securely set up your plan in practice linked to your patient record

What about my family?

Children are welcome too. Just as we care for our own children, we’d like yours to benefit from Advanced Eye Care as well. If one parent is a member of RP4 Extra or Classic, the eyecare for 1 named child will be free.

If your child requires glasses they are joined as members at £8 per month and this includes their eyecare as frequently as required as well as standard single vision lenses included and frame charges subsidised.

If I see you for eye care, can I still get an NHS optical voucher towards the cost of my glasses?

As we don’t provide NHS sight testing, we cannot issue an NHS optical voucher. Other opticians cannot issue an NHS optical voucher to our prescription either – these are NHS regulations not ours.

I wear contact lenses, what about me?

Our contact lens wearers will know that we already have a plan to look after your contact lens wear prescriptions.

If you are under 18 your eyecare is now already included in your existing monthly membership fee.

If you are 18 and over you can add £6 per month to your existing plan to include eyecare and the other benefits too (if you have not already done this).

If you are not sure, ask us to check if you already have this included or not.

How do I get an urgent appointment?

We will continue to offer emergency eyecare appointments, however because we no longer have an NHS contract we can only cover these free of charge if you are an RP4 member or if you pay.
111 have a triage service for the UK for emergency eyecare accessible to all.

What if I don’t want to set up a Direct Debit?

If you would prefer to pay for your consultations each time you attend, that’s absolutely fine. It’s £172 for each advanced eye examination appointment or £86 for each Contact Lens Care appointment and £86 for each child's appointment.
