Winter Eye Trends with Davina

Winter Eye Trends with DavinaNow that it’s chillier in the mornings and darker in the evenings, the chances are you’re turning up the heating and cosying up in chunky jumpers.

This season brings us family get-togethers, lots of shopping trips and (with any luck) some snow. But it also carries some not so fun effects for our eyes.

Here’s my annual winter eye trends blog with a couple of things to remember:

Winter dry eyes

Being outside on windy, winter days can cause dry eyes. Artificial heaters at home or in the office dry the moisture in the air and can cause dryness too. It’s most common with people who wear contact lenses but it can be a problem for others. One of the best treatments is lubricating eye drops, which we have available at the practice.

Winter sun

Don’t be fooled by winter sunshine. It might not feel warm but it can still be damaging to your eyes, especially if it’s reflected off snow or ice. Keep your eyes protected with a pair of good-quality sunglasses or snow goggles if you’re off on a skiing holiday. And make sure they reflect 100 percent of UVA rays like our Maui Jim sunglasses frames.

Party season

With office parties, Christmas meals and pantomimes to attend over the coming season, it can be tricky for ladies to find time to give their eyes a rest from wearing cosmetics. Our #partyeyes tips on Twitter offer some great advice on keeping your eyes healthy and gorgeous.
